Cooking Baltic Pies:

Step 1: Prepare the ingredients.

Since mainly puff pastry is sold in frozen form, the first thing we need to do is put it to thaw at room temperature. At this time we shift 2 chicken eggs in a saucepan, pour water and send hard-boiled to a medium heat (about 7 minutes). Then we remove them from the heat and set to cool under cold running water, and then peel them and cut them into quarters. Onions are peeled, washed and cut into half rings. Using an opener, open a jar of sprats.

Step 2: Cooking Baltic Pies.

Set the oven to heat. 200 degrees. Sprinkle flour on the working area of the kitchen table and roll out the dough into a thin layer on it using a rolling pin, approximately 2 mm thick. Then cut it into squares (about 10x10 cm), in the center of which we lay diagonally one sprat, onion and a quarter of an egg. We connect in the middle two opposite ends. We take a baking sheet, cover it with parchment paper and put our pies on it, which we immediately grease with an egg just beaten with a fork. And send to bake in the oven 10-15 minutes (until they are browned).

Step 3: Serve the Baltic cakes.

We shift the ready-made pies to a serving dish, let them cool down a bit and an unusually tasty snack is ready. Enjoy your meal!

Recipe Tips:

- - Some add a slice of fresh cucumber to the pies.

- - You can grease the pies not only with a beaten egg, but also with oil from the sprat.

- - If you do not have parchment paper, grease a baking sheet with a piece of butter and sprinkle lightly with flour. Then you can spread the pies on the baking sheet, so they definitely will not burn during baking.
